Greg Savitt

Greg Savitt was born and raised as a Conservative Jew in a Chicago suburb. He attended Hebrew School, learned about Jewish traditions, liturgy and the Hebrew language, yet does not remember the rabbis talking about God as if he could be known personally. Greg's interest at that time was math and accounting and he saw religion as something he had to do until his Bar Mitzvah at age 13.

One evening at a Christian youth function, at age 16, friends told Greg about Jesus. He imagined what it would be like to believe in Jesus and, oddly enough, began to experience a peace and joy that frightened him. He spoke to a rabbi about his discomfort and was able to dismiss thoughts of Jesus for a time. After high school, Greg attended the University of Illinois and lived in a Jewish fraternity. After graduation, he worked at the accounting firm of Ernst & Young as a Certified Public Accountant.

Even though he had plenty of friends, money, and good times, he knew something was missing. Once again a friend began telling Greg about Jesus. This time he listened and he began experiencing a sense of peace and joy. He began attending church regularly but was not willing to commit himself to the reality that Jesus was the Jewish Messiah and Savior of the world.

One day the Liberated Wailing Wall, a mobile music team of Jews for Jesus came to the church. Watching these Jews who believed in Jesus and proclaimed him from the stage helped Greg to accept the truth about Jesus the Messiah. Greg felt so strongly about the Messiahship of Jesus that in 1997 he left his job as a CPA to become a fulltime evangelist with Jews for Jesus.

Since 1997 Greg has been in full-time ministry activity in discipleship and leading several large Jewish outreaches. He especially loves Jewish ministry in South Florida as it is the second largest Jewish population in the US and has had the opportunity to see Jewish people come to faith.

Greg is now serving with Chosen People Ministries in South Florida where he lives with his wife Denise and their four children. Along with proclaiming the good news of Jesus, he is embarking on receiving his M.Div. from Talbot University.
