During STEP 2009, we had an international team of volunteers, both Jewish and Gentile, sharing the Gospel in a variety of ways on the streets of New York City. Chances are that one out of every four or five people that you meet in New York will be Jewish. We passed out Gospel tracts, conducted surveys (intended to begin evangelistic conversations), and held a Russian Jewish outreach with music and a lecture from a Russian Jewish believer from Berlin, Germany. We worked in Central Park, Midtown Manhattan, and in Jewish areas of Brooklyn. The goal of STEP is to better equip believers to do Jewish Evangelism here in New York City - and in turn, to reach Jewish people in their home areas. Even though the practical ministry was street evangelism, many of the principles taught during STEP are very conducive to sharing the Good News with friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives back home. Comments from participants: "Many of the Jewish people we met seemed lost and wanting to hear more." "I enjoyed the outreaches in Central Park. It was surprising to speak with such open people. I also enjoyed meeting people who have a similar interest in Jewish evangelism." "The outreach team was quite an eclectic group of people from several countries, and it was neat to see God knit our hearts together as we engaged in personal ministry.
