Muchan Conference - Berlin

Berlin was the location chosen for the Muchan Conference: the first-ever worldwide gathering of Messianic young adults. In the very city where senior officials of the Nazi regime met to plan the "Final Solution to the Jewish question," we gathered to worship the God of Israel and of all the nations! Whereas Hitler and his party planned to bring death to the Jewish people, we are actively working to bring life - the eternal life found in Jesus the Messiah.

Before Hitler came to power, Berlin's Jewish population was about 170,000. By the end of World War II, almost all of these Jewish people had been sent to death camps. The Jewish community in Berlin remained virtually non-existent until the 1990s, when thousands of Jews from the former Soviet Union immigrated to Germany. Today, Berlin is home to about 200,000 Jewish people. Chosen People Ministries has a Messianic Center and congregation in Berlin, along with a number of staff members who are working to reach Jewish people in Germany with the Gospel.

During the Muchan Conference, we visited key sites in Berlin, including the Brandenberg Gate, the Reichstag building, the remains of the Berlin wall, and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. While taking a group picture on the steps of the Reichstag, we sang Hine ma tov uma naim, shevet achim gam yachad: Behold how good and how pleasant it is for bretheren to dwell together in unity! (Psalm 133:1)

The Muchan Conference was truly marked by unity. In a city that was once the site of such evil, and later divided for many decades, we came together as brothers and sisters in Messiah. We are united by our desire to walk in the Lord's ways and to bring the Good News of Messiah to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile.
