Most everyone has some kind of memory associated with summer camp. I grew up going to “English camp” where kids whose parents worked in Europe would gather in the French Alps for two weeks to have an “American experience” - or in other words, learn a little about our country’s culture, history and traditions.

We used to study the English language (since we studied French or Spanish or German in our regular schools!), American history, and of course American holidays with all the trimmings. Every day we would celebrate a new American holiday, from “the 4th of July” to Presidents day and even Thanksgiving - all in the middle of July. I've never forgotten these experiences.

What do you remember about summer camp? How about the long hikes or the traditional campfire and s’mores? Maybe you still keep in touch with a friend or counselor from those years? Hopefully you didn't suffer as the brunt of a bad prank or embarrassing joke... Either way, it seems that summer camp leaves an indelible impression on those who attend - whether camper or counselor!

You have the opportunity of reliving those experiences this summer as a counselor at Camp Sar Shalom in Southern California. We are currently taking applications for counselors who desire to make a difference in the lives of youth, helping them to grow in their relationship with Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah and with His followers.

This year, Camp Sar Shalom, sponsored by Chosen People Ministries, will take place August 8-13 in Lake Hughes, CA (just north of Los Angeles). As a counselor, you will be mentoring kids ages 8-15 in their study of Scripture, their personal walk with God and the all-important task of having fun.

Being a counselor at Camp Sar Shalom means volunteering your time and energy, raising the funds for your travel and camp expenses, and investing your love into lives that will be changed forever by your presence and your example. It is essentially a short-term missions trip with long-term benefits!

I know my life would not have been the same without camp - I dedicated my life to serving Yeshua around the campfire when I was 13, and now I’m in full-time Jewish ministry. Who knows what impact God has planned for you to have on the children’s lives who will attend Camp Sar Shalom this year?
