Although Mark is Jewish, he was raised in an environment of political radicalism, as both his parents had become Marxists and protest atheists following the pain of the Holocaust. By age 16, Mark was the Chairman of British Communist Party Youth. While in High School, he challenged another student to a public debate on the evidence of the resurrection when she claimed that it was the basis of her Christian faith. But while researching his opponent's case in the library, Mark came to such a strong intellectual and personal conviction that Jesus had risen from the dead, that he became His surprised disciple whilst preparing for the debate!

Mark began studying Government at the London School of Economics, knowing that if he still believed in Jesus at graduation he would lose relationships with both parents, but was able to lead his father to Jesus during his sophomore year. Mark felt called to be an evangelist, and is an ordained Baptist minister. After serving in that capacity for ten years, he was involved in ministry to Jewish students and young professionals in London from 1996-2009. Since becoming a follower of Jesus, Mark has discovered and embraced his Jewish identity, and for him it has become a passionate imperative to share the love of Jesus with his fellow Jewish people.

Marie Surey is a Speech Pathologist from an Irish Catholic background who became a believer via the ministry of college friends. She soon developed a heart for Jewish ministry. Mark and Marie met and began their relationship in the context of Messianic Jewish ministry in London, and were married in 2001.

Mark and Marie have also regularly visited Italy over the past eight years, where they have helped initiate Jewish ministry and a small Messianic movement in that nation. They then moved to New York, where Mark serves at the Feinberg Center, a Messianic Jewish Seminary run by Chosen People Ministries in New York. He is also involved in Jewish evangelism and the discipleship of Jewish believers in Brooklyn.
