Bob and Emily Seemar
in New Jersey
Bob grew up in a gentile family that was very involved in a liberal church. It was not until his twin sisters attended a local Bible college, that they realized living a good life was not sufficient. They discovered that they were sinners and needed the forgiveness of Jesus as their Savior. During their many weekend trips home, Bob’s sisters would share with the rest of the family about Christianity being a relationship with Jesus. Bob went with his sister to a Christmas morning church service in 1968. During the message, the pastor showed the congregation that all the good and religious things one can do would not meet God’s requirement of salvation. On the way home from church that morning, Bob told his sister that he had never asked Jesus to come into his heart and forgive his sins. So, he prayed right there in the car and became a child of the King!
Emily grew up in a Jewish home, where her mother began to search for God. She read several books and then a neighbor invited her to hear a former rabbi speak who had come to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. She began attending a ladies’ Bible study at Chosen People Ministries Messianic Center. After being shown in the Scriptures that Jesus was the Messiah, and seeing other Jewish believers, Emily’s mom came to know Jesus as her Savior. At first, Emily’s father allowed her mom to attend these classes, bringing the children with her. Emily and her brother and sister listened intently as the Gospel was shared at every study. Soon, her father began to disapprove and even had forbidden them to attend for some years. Many times they would attend secretly and her mother would read the New Testament to the children when their father was away. Emily’s desire to know this Messiah grew. She was permitted to go to a free summer camp where the Gospel was preached, which was a Chosen People Ministries evangelistic outreach. At age 11, Emily realized that she could not atone for her sins and that Jesus had provided the blood sacrifice necessary to redeem her soul. She was saved during the invitation at camp that week.
Bob and Emily met at Bible College and worked part-time with a Jewish ministry. After 25 years in his own private construction business, Bob was asked to oversee the renovation of the new offices for Chosen People Ministries International Headquarters in New York. So their work is to develop, manage, improve and expand Messianic centers in Chosen People Ministries and get local churches involved in the projects through volunteer help, to the end that Jewish people might come to know the Messiah. Additionally, Bob and Emily also speak in local churches sharing how to bring the Gospel to the Jewish people.
