Surprising Announcement from Israel and the United Arab EmiratesSheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (Source: Wikipedia / Press Information Bureau on behalf of Prime Minister’s Office, Government of India)Out of all of her Arab neighbors, Israel has full diplomatic relations with only Egypt (1979), Jordan (1994), and effective this past Thursday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In a surprise announcement, both countries have agreed to the full normalization of relations. In the coming weeks, delegates from both countries will meet to establish corresponding embassies and work out details on investment, tourism, business, direct flights, and security. United States President Donald Trump announced the peace agreement, and Israeli and Emirati leaders also made announcements. Anwar Gargash, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said in his statement that the nation “calls for the resumption of negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis, and is committed to working with friends to establish security and ensure the stability of the region.” As part of the agreement, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s plans for West Bank annexation have been temporarily suspended. According to the statement, “As a result of this diplomatic breakthrough and at the request of President Trump with the support of the United Arab Emirates, Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the president’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts now on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world.”Please pray for this ground-breaking peace deal between the United Arab Emirates and Israel and for all the details that need to be coordinated between the two nations.Read more at Times of Israel…Other Countries Might Follow the United Arab Emirates’ ExampleA Map of the Middle East. (Source: Public Domain Vectors)Morocco is currently home to an estimated three thousand Jewish people, which is the largest Jewish community in an Arab nation. Living primarily in Casablanca, the Jewish population is protected and cared for. It is not surprising that a recent Israeli report indicated that Morocco may be the next Arab nation to formally establish diplomatic relations with the Jewish State. Morocco already has some business ties with Israel, and many Israelis want to travel there each year to discover their roots but have to receive special travel documentation. Oman and Bahrain might also follow the UAE’s example and establish ties. All three countries praised the announcement of these formal diplomatic relations. Prime Minister Netanyahu reached out to President Trump to broker a deal with Morocco, but nothing has been established so far. Please pray for other countries to follow the UAE’s example and establish peaceful ties with Israel.Read more at Times of Israel… Preparing for Israel’s Flu SeasonA scientist examines flu virus particles in a plaque assay (Source: Unsplash / CDC)Israeli health care providers, Maccabi and Clalit, are working now to prepare for the winter flu season. This year, Israel will begin administering the winter flu vaccinations in September, which is earlier than usual. The flu vaccine will be in high demand and there is already talk of a worldwide shortage. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lower production of the seasonal flu vaccine in addition to decreasing the number of staff available to administer the shot. In order to reduce exposure for health care providers and the public, Maccabi and Clalit are arranging drive-in vaccination centers, which have been very successful for COVID-19 testing. Those who go to the clinic will be given a specific time to arrive. Because of the expected shortage of the flu vaccine, high-risk populations (healthcare professionals, the elderly, and those with underlying medical conditions) will receive the vaccination first. More than three million doses of the vaccine have been ordered between the two companies, though not all have currently been approved. Please pray for sufficient production of the flu vaccine and for a steady and organized way to deliver and administer it, first to the people who need it most.Read more at YNet…Swimmers from the West Bank Head to the BeachThe beach at Tel Aviv-Yafo (Source: Unsplash / Vladimir Anikeev)Palestinian families have been sneaking into Israel through holes in the border fence in order to take their children to the ocean. Many of the Arab residents in the landlocked West Bank have never felt the salty ocean waves. They cross into Israel with backpacks of food and floaty toys. Most families head to beaches in Jaffa, though Herzliyah, Netanya, and Haifa are also popular. Once a few people slipped through the holes and headed to the beach without any issues, word got out that the Israeli Defense Forces were turning a blind eye to these beachgoers. It was reported that people were even getting help from the IDF border guards to pass through these breaks in the fence. It was also reported that IDF military vehicle headlights were used to illuminate the hole so that Palestinians returning from the beach could find their way home. Many Israelis said that it was refreshing to see happy mothers and children playing in the sand and water. Please pray for more ways to see peace between neighbors.Read more at Times of Israel… Praising God for PeaceA wall at Netiv HaAsara facing the Gaza border reads the words “Path to Peace” in Hebrew, Arabic, and English. (Source: Unsplash / Cole Keister)We need to stop and praise God for how He has brought about this peace agreement with the United Arab Emirates and how others seem to be following their example. Although this treaty is man-made, peace in the Middle East is God-ordained, and Chosen People Ministries—Israel is praying for the softening of relations between other Arab countries, even those more hostile to Israel. Who knows but maybe some of the people from the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, and others will hear the gospel from a Jewish person from Israel! Thank you for praying with us for this and thank you for praying for our workers in the Land who so diligently share about the Lord! Please pray that Israel’s borders and people remain safe and the gospel can go forth out of Jerusalem and to the ends of the earth.
