“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you” (John 14:15–17).
The Shavuot–Pentecost Connection is a great follow-up to your Resurrection Sunday programing. All of the spring feasts of Israel have their beginnings in the Old Testament and are fulfilled in the New Testament. Passover was fulfilled in the death of Jesus, the Feast of First Fruits is fulfilled in Jesus’ resurrection, and Shavuot—or the Feast of Weeks—was fulfilled in Pentecost. Today. we celebrate the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, after Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. The giving of the Holy Spirit was promised by the Messiah (John 14:15–18) and is a defining moment for believers in Jesus! This presentation will certainly sharpen your church’s understanding of God’s faithfulness.
