COVID-19 prayers and recovery
Deborah* was terrified—for herself and especially for her 2-year-old daughter, Sarah!* They both had COVID-19 with hard-hitting respiratory symptoms that Deborah knew could be fatal.
A single mom, Deborah did not have a lot of resources or a great support system…but she was in touch with our Chosen People Ministries missionaries in her hometown in Canada. She reached out to us, asking for prayer.
“We prayed for healing, and the Lord was merciful,” our missionary reports. “Both recovered and are gaining strength.”
Deborah was so grateful for the compassion and prayers, she asked our team to teach her about the Bible. We gave her a Bible and started one-on-one Bible lessons via Zoom.
Today, Deborah is learning more about more about her Messiah, Jesus, and is seeking a relationship with the Lord. Please pray with us that she will soon come to embrace salvation through Christ.

After a year and a half of cancellations…will the kids come back?
Children’s ministry and summer camps were touching the lives of dozens of Jewish children through one of our Messianic congregations in Israel. That all came to a sudden halt in 2020 when COVID-19 shut down all activities—and then the lock-down dragged on into 2021.
“After a year-and-a-half break in children’s ministry, I was worried there would be no children willing to come to camp this year,” our missionary said. “Maybe the time had come to start something new?”
Nevertheless, we put out the information on how to sign up for camp—and within twenty minutes, every slot was filled, and we had to put children on a waiting list!
“The kids were distraught when camp was canceled last year,” said the missionary. “Today we have almost one hundred applicants for the camp, and only seventy spaces available. The Lord showed me again how important this ministry is.”
Henry says he is on a long journey to faith…and you are pointing him toward Jesus.
Henry* popped up on our “radar” last Hannukah when he joined an online study. He seemed to enjoy learning about how the Jewish holidays are celebrated in Messianic congregations and what the Old Testament symbols mean to Jewish people who follow the Messiah Jesus.
He continued taking Zoom classes and shared that, while he had not placed his faith in Jesus, he had been on this faith journey for a long time. He never asked for prayer during prayer times in the classes, but he bowed his head and prayed along with others.
During the most recent class about the spring holy days of Pentecost and the Feast of Weeks (Shavuot), our missionary, who was co-leading the class, felt a special prompt from the Holy Spirit to mention Henry during the prayer time, and pray specifically for the Lord to draw near and reveal Himself to Henry.
Immediately after the session ended, Henry sent an email that said…
“Thank you for holding these sessions….I am grateful to have met you and thank you for your prayer this evening; I was touched. Though I have been on ‘this journey’ for a long time, I feel I have a long way to go. I will touch base with you from time to time.”
We will continue to minister to Henry and ask you to pray with us that he will find his way to Jesus soon. Thank you!

A Jewish person who believes in Jesus? Is that even possible?
Stav* is among the many thousands of Israeli young people who are not traveling this summer. Although international travel is common among young Israelis, the pandemic has added a lot of logistic and economic layers to this year’s holidays, and she is staying home.
So, she was happy for the invitation to attend a cookout on the beach where a South African dish of potjies was being cooked up while our missionaries and members of the local Messianic congregation were chatting with guests and enjoying appetizers.
But as much as Stav was enjoying the conversations about her Jewish heritage and the man Jesus, whom these people called Messiah, she was also mystified by it. Finally, she said, “I didn’t know a Jewish person could believe in Jesus. Wouldn’t that make them not Jewish?”
The explanation she received: If Jesus is the Messiah—the Savior—at all, he had to be the Jewish Messiah…so it is the most Jewish thing you can possibly do to believe in Him!
The conversation went on throughout the evening, and Stav concluded, “If what you say is really in Scripture, and if Scripture is true, this makes sense.”
Today, Stav is committed to learning more and is seeking the truth. Please pray that she will soon come to choose Jesus as her Messiah!

Join us for 9/11 and the New Middle East: a conference in partnership with Alliance for the Peace of Jerusalem.
We cannot think about what happened on 9/11 without thinking of the ways in which Israel remains vulnerable to the very same terrorism as that which was perpetrated on September 11.
Chosen People Ministries exists to tell Jewish people about Jesus, whose Hebrew name is Yeshua, the true hope of Israel and the light of the world, so we are honored to co-sponsor this historic conference. You are invited.
The conference, called 9/11 and the New Middle East, will take place Friday evening and Saturday, September 10–11. You may attend online or in person at Trinity Baptist Church, 250 East 61st Street, New York, NY 10065. The conference is free to attend online, and $95 to attend in person—but we do ask you to register in advance whether you are joining us in person or online. Click the link to register or to get more information, including FAQ’s and hotels in the area.
