On the Edge of Eternity

Mavis* is Jewish. But she has been surrounded by Gentile believers in Jesus for years . . . and she was confused! After attending church one day and speaking with the pastor there, he sent a message along to Chosen People Ministries:

“I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone so open and transparent about her life and her wrestling with issues of faith. She appears to be right there . . . on the edge of eternity.”

Our Chosen People Ministries missionary did not let this one sit for a second! She picked up the phone right away and called Mavis. They spoke for two hours and sent texts afterward. Finally, they met for lunch.

Mavis opened up. She wanted to believe in Messiah and give her life to Him, but she could not reconcile the things she learned growing up in the Jewish community with what she was hearing from people of faith. How is Jesus a prophet, the Son of God, and God, Himself, and how should she pray?

Psalm 2 began to calm her anxious heart. Deuteronomy 6:4 spoke truth and hope. Mavis was ready to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior! She prayed with our missionary that very day.

For Mavis and many other Jewish people, the teachings ingrained in them about Jesus from very early on make it difficult to accept and believe in Jesus as more than a prophet or a good man. But, together with Chosen People Ministries, you connect the dots, reveal truth . . . and God brings understanding!

Keep praying for Mavis, and thank you for standing with us to have the hard conversations, build the trust in relationship, and bring the good news of Jesus!

Praise! A Family Comes to Faith

It is no small thing when we welcome a fellow brother or sister into the family of God. We are happy to do the work of the Lord, proclaiming His Word and the beauty of His gospel with His chosen people.

What do we do when an entire Orthodox Jewish family comes to faith? We rejoice . . . and ask you to join us! Through your support and prayers, you had a hand in this story of salvation too.

Halel,* her husband Reuben,* and their two children, Leonard* and Melissa,* prayed to receive Messiah after attending one of our church services and hearing the gospel clearly presented.

A family . . . joining the family of God with us!

Take a moment now to thank the Lord in prayer for His faithfulness, and pray for this family to grow in faith. We will be there to help them.

Impactful Events

  • Eli,* the unbelieving husband of a young friend who is attending one of our women’s Bible studies, joined her for one of our events and connected with several believing guys.
  • Ruth* and her unbelieving Jewish boyfriend, Boaz,* met one of our missionaries at an event who encouraged them to begin reading through Luke’s Gospel together. We connected them with a local congregation and told Boaz how a Jewish person can believe in Jesus (Yeshua) as Israel’s promised Jewish Messiah.
  • During our Korean Sabbath event at our Mercaz center, the amazing Korean team from the United States blessed us so much with the beautiful program they prepared, the love they lavished on us, and the gospel message they clearly presented—praise God! This unique event drew several Korean-loving non-believers who likely heard the gospel for the first time that evening.
  • Hearing the Korean team’s love for Israel and the Jewish people because of their faith in Israel’s Jewish Messiah, Jesus touched Sasson* and Simcha.* We shared Isaiah 53 with them, and Simcha jotted it down. Pray they read this chapter, and we can continue the conversation of the love of Messiah!

Thank you for your support providing the means for us to host events and celebrations. They are another way for us to reach the unreached . . . who might not walk through the doors of a church but will show up for a good party. Thank you for helping us present the truth of Messiah, so all might believe!

67 Ladies . . . and Counting—and One Named Jen

Coupled with the book of Ephesians, our women’s discipleship and intercession group in New Jersey is walking through “What Did She Know?”, a Bible study written by one of our Chosen People Ministries missionaries. It covers the foundational truths responsible for activating the faith of some of the godly women in the Bible.

God is using this study to reach many!

But we do not do what we do strictly for the numbers. We do it to reach the one.  Like Jen,* the Jewish woman who came to faith during a Chosen People Ministries Hanukkah 2020 online teaching.

She continues to attend faithfully. Thank you for praying for her. She is growing in her relationship with the Lord. She shared how she and other friends of faith have been challenged to “clean up our language and to be more Christian in our speech and refrain from swearing.” She goes on to say . . .

“My goodness, it’s working . . . I’ve changed all my friend circles, and I don’t hang out with the alcoholics anymore!”

The Holy Spirit is transforming Jen into the woman of purpose the Lord created her to be. Let us give the Lord a shout and say, “AMEN.” All glory to our Lord God!
