From the Frontlines:
Weekend Update
October 14 and 15, 2023
Feeding Young Israeli Soldiers
The weekend was full! We had the opportunity to serve a group of young soldiers who had ordered pizza with the local shop. As one of our staff members was ready to cover the expense of the order at the right moment when the soldiers were picking up the pizza, we were able to pay for twenty large pizzas to feed the hungry soldiers!
They are normally provided with dry food at the base so to have hot pizza is a treat. The soldiers were very appreciative—as shown in the picture below. We were also able to prepare a small batch of ten chicken meals for another group. Providing food for more than 360,000 reservists is a challenge the people of Israel have taken upon themselves. We are adding our little part.
Physical and Spiritual Rest Over the Weekend
On Sabbath, our focus was on serving the people and welcoming visitors from Tel Aviv. Imri*, a government worker, sought guidance from Isaac, one of our volunteers, regarding IDF supplies. Meanwhile, the wife of one of our staff had a meaningful meeting with Yuval*, a young believer who expressed her desire to be baptized. We decided to conduct Zoom discipleship meetings before Yuval’s baptism. Your prayers for Yuval’s faith and her upcoming baptism would be greatly appreciated.
Yesterday at 11:00 a.m., we had to seek shelter due to terrorist shelling, but thankfully, all of us remained safe. During lunch, we had the pleasure of hosting Talia*, who asked for prayers to help alleviate her stress caused by the ongoing shelling. Our conversation with Talia also delved into the depths of the Old Testament (Tanakh in Hebrew) and the New Testament.
In the afternoon, Yoav* took the time to pick up supplies for his Israel Defence Forces unit, and in the evening, a gracious family invited us for dinner. We took the opportunity to present our faith to them and their neighbors as well. Please keep Talia*, Shira*, their neighbors, and their children in your prayers.
As the day ended, we returned home to rest and prepare for the days ahead.
